When Metroid Prime came out for the GameCube (which has actually been awhile now), I had to stop playing it after a certain point because it just got too hard. But even months afterward I thought of how cool the soundtrack was. Cool, but very creepy. But I couldn't find any sign of a OST! I couldn't even find any sort of ripped midis or mp3s. I gave up on it to be honest.
But the other day I was watching Samurai Jack on Toonami. Samurai Jack is probably the coolest cartoon to ever come out of America in a long long time. Parts of the music for that are actually very similar to Metroid Prime, so I was reminded of how much I had wanted there to be an OST. I took another look and although eBay, the online shopping mecha, turned up completely empty, Google found it for me! Of course it figures the soundtrack is a Japanese only thing.
Check out this awesome site, btw, for all sorts of game soundtracks that you might not be able to find anywhere else: CocoeBiz. I can highly recommend it!
The soundtrack IS as awesome as I'd imagine it to be. The tracks are all a bit short, but that's what auto-replay functionality is for, I suppose. Especially if you find one track in particular you want to have as ambiance. I also get to look forward to listening to the Metroid Fusion OST, since the two come bundled together.
