I guess there comes a time when a girl just has to admit to herself that she is... geeky.
I am now geeky. I am geeky because I have a wishlist at amazon.co.uk (for those of you who love me and miss me and want to buy me books) that is a pretentious mixture of interior design and Japanese style.
I'm also geeky because I did in fact win an auction for a lovely Tohru Honda school uniform. I made out like a bandit as well because the auction ended early for some reason, meaning I got it at a low price. There was another school uniform for sale (winter version) that went up significantly higher then I could even think about being able to afford. Along the same sort of geeky vein, I found a website that makes really awesome looking elf ears that are fitted on a headband rather then having to be superglued to your own ears. I want some. Badly. Don't have a clue when I'd ever wear them, but I desire them deeply. Check them out at Firefly Path. But the question is - regular elf ears or anime (aka Lodoss Wars) elf ears?

About a month ago, I started on a diet. I'm not doing anything fancy, just following the basic principle that if you consume less calories in a day then you burn, you're good to go. I don't look at fat content or worry about carbs. So far I've lost at least 4 pounds. To help me along, Philip has been bribing me with little goals. For instance, he bought me this dress I really like that I ought to be able to wear when I'm around size 14.
But the goal at the end of the tunnel? Dressing up as Tohru Honda from Fruits Basket! I've already got the navy knee-highs and I've hopefully won an auction for the summer version of Tohru's school uniform! Now I just need the shoes. I found some that would have been 100% perfect if they had been brown instead of black. It gives me something to keep my eyes open for though while I'm out in town.
Of course, it makes me wonder who is going to enjoy the day when I can wear a Japanese medium (aka small) more... I'll finally be thin, but I'll be dressed up like a high school girl!

I'm sorry I still haven't gotten back up to speed on posting entries - I'm so used to having my own computer that I find it really difficult to use someone else's, even if it is my husband's. And then there's the matter of how I'd like to post some pictures, but I don't want to install any of my graphics programmes on his machine. As soon as I get my own, and maybe before, if I can really face trying to use default Microsoft imaging software, there will be some nice pictures of the kitten and possibly some pictures of some new kimono items I'm getting in. I just can't stay away from them. I got lucky enough to snag a really beautiful new obi and now, of course, I need to find a kimono to go with it. I did find one that I think will be a great match, but the kimono has some minor stains on it. Finding a dry cleaners in the area who can deal with vintage silk will be something for me to do though...
Hrm... what else to mention? Well, I got in more Fruits Basket production sketches. I got in another really great portrait of Shigure and a set of Kyo sketches. The set of Kyo is practically a complete example of the animation sketching process, ranging from really rough layouts to finished sketches. It's really neat - but showing any of these off requires a scanner.
I'm also trying to decide what to do with my time. I've been wanting to write a novel and this morning I got started on the first chapter. But then I also find myself having an interest in learning how to make clothes. In my last semester of college, I concentrated on anime-style character design - the result is that I have hundreds of ideas for clothing. Most of which should actually be possible to create. And I have to admit, I'd like to be able to make my own kimonos and other Japanese clothing too. You can get some truly amazing rolls of kimono silk cheaply.
Well - got to go. I have a purring kitten in my lap now.
